  • Where do you come from? I come from Saint Malo, in Brittany.
  • How long have you been living in Bali? 1 year.
  • Why live in Bali? For all those little things that make a difference! From the smiles of the Balinese, to being bare feet, to growing my tomatoes, cucumbers and basil in my garden, to start my day with my daughter and observe the two cows that live behind me. It is also possible to dive in the pool all year and run in the middle of the rice fields.
  • Is this your first expatriation? I lived 10 years in New Delhi and traveled to some other thirty countries.
  • What languages do you speak? French, English, Hindi.
  • If you were to be a villa? The villa Sukacita.
  • If you were to be a book? L'Usage du Monde, by N. Bouvier.
  • If you were to be an activity? A night hike to the Gunung Agung.
  • If you were to be a monument? The monastery of Likir, in Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas.
  • If you were to summarize Bali in a few words? An island of harmony, creation, peace and pleasure.

  • Where do you come from? I come from La Baule in Loire Atlantique.
  • How long have you been living in Bali? For 2 years.
  • Why live in Bali? A change from India India, for my children and because I missed the sea!
  • Is this your first expatriation? I lived in India for 10 years – lots of fun.
  • What languages do you speak? French, English, German, Spanish, Hindi, and Indonesian.
  • If you were to be a villa? The Villa Chantika.
  • If you were to be a song? Sunny Monday.

  • If you were to be an experience? A rafting trip down the Ayung River in the vicinity of Ubud.

  • How long have you been living in Bali? For 3 years now.
  • Why live in Bali? For the many adventures that Indonesia offers.
  • Is this your first expatriation? No, I already had the chance to work in London, Mayotte and Delhi.

  • Why live in Bali? I always wanted to live on an island, far from the oppressive megacities.

  • If you were to be a dish? Sate Ayam, chicken skewers with their succulent peanut sauce.

  • How long have you been living in Bali? 1 year and a few months.
  • Why live in Bali? For the sweetness of life, the smiles of my neighbours, the lush landscapes, the music of the ice cream seller every Sunday, the plumbers who come to repair your ceiling and who eventually dismantle your shower.
  • Is this your first expatriation? I have already lived in Scotland and Turkey.
  • What languages do you speak? I speak French, English and Indonesian.

MELIANA – Villa Expert

  • Where do you come from? I was born and raised in Bandung in Bali and spent the last fifteen years in Paris.
  • How long have you been living in Bali? I returned to my homeland in September 2015.
  • Why live in Bali? My family and I wanted to take a break from the daily routine to the European. We wanted to find another way of life in a completely different setting. In Bali, we do not race against the clock and we find spontaneity.
  • What languages do you speak? Indonesian, English, French and I learn a little Spanish.
  • If you were to be a villa? The villa Juno.
  • If you were to be a dish? The Gado-Gado, a mish-mash of vegetables, all sprinkled with peanut sauce.
  • If you were to be a movie? The Darjeeling Limited - Wes Anderson.
  • If you were to be an animal? A Cat - Discreet, not binding, cabbage and a little con nevertheless.
  • If you were to be a place in Bali? The Tirta Gangga Palace.
  • If you were to summarize Bali in a few words? The value of respect for all aspects of life. The beauty and grace of Balinese in their traditional outfits and rituals. Bali is the sweetness of life.

DOSLY – Villa Expert

  • Where do you come from? I was born in Madagascar.
  • How long have you been living in Bali? After about ten years in Madagascar, I returned to Indonesia, my country of origin.
  • Why live in Bali? For its diversity, its many islands with different cultures and activities.
  • What languages do you speak? I speak French, English and Indonesian.
  • If you were to be a villa? The villa Chocolat, you will have understood I am a very greedy!
  • If you were to be a dish? The nasi goreng.
  • If you were to be an animal? The starling of Bali, animal emblem of my adoption island Bali.
